Beautifully soft John Muir Way Tartan fringed Lambswool blanket, exclusively designed by Gordon Nicolson and expertly woven in Scotland in luxuriously soft wool. Beautiful and useful indoors or out.

John Muir was a man of many talents; farmer, naturalist, botanist, inventor, explorer, mountaineer, writer - but is best known as a pioneer of nature conservation.
Muir was born in the coastal town of Dunbar, East Lothian on 21st April 1838. During his childhood in Scotland, he developed a deep love of the natural world, which grew into a lifelong cause, earning worldwide recognition.
April 2014 marked the centenary of Muirs death and the opening of the 215km celebratory John Muir Way. The trail stretches from his East Coast birthplace, through coastal, country and urban central Scotland, to Helensburgh on the West coast- the Muir familys departure point on their emigration to North America.
Gordon Nicolsons tartan design to honour Muir was inspired by " the Father of the National parks" legacy, and by the stunning coastline, countryside & Lammermuir hills which surround Dunbar, where Gordon lives with his family.
The colours woven represent;
Green & Brown - earthy nature
Blue - the sea & sky
Red - from the Dunbar tartan

The John Muir Way Tartan is approved by Scottish Natural Heritage, and is Registered with the Scottish Register of Tartans.

We try extremely hard to ensure our photos are as life-like as possible, but please understand the actual colour may vary from your monitor.
This is due to computer monitors displaying colours differently, differences of natural and artificial lighting affecting photography and also due to differences in  individual eyesight.
Thank you. The Flodden Tartan was designed by Gordon Nicolson in 2013 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Flodden, where King James IV led the Scots against the armies of King Henry VIII and became the last reigning British Monarch to die in battle.
